Choose To Be Great: Edition 4

I spent most of my day traveling, which gave me a lot of time to think as I read my book and scrolled through social media! As I thought about what I wanted to share with you this week, the idea of affirming others continued to come to mind.

Looking back on my time as a Principal, I wish I would have affirmed my team, my teachers, and my students more. It was super easy to get bogged-down and miss opportunities to encourage others. And, if I’m being really honest, I was probably worse at affirming the people closest to me.

So, as we enter a new week, allow me to encourage you to lift your people up. Stop by that first-year teacher’s room who has been rocking it out over the last few weeks and tell them that you see them. Swing by and see the veteran teacher who is trying something new and encourage them to stick with it. Take an intentional moment and pull your front desk secretary into your office and share your heartfelt thanks for all the calls they’ve been answering during the first weeks of school. Maybe send them to have an off-campus lunch.

You know who you need to affirm and you know what their hearts need. So, go show them some love this week.

Choose to be Great!
