Choose to be Great: Coming Back (Y2:E15)

As we return from the Thanksgiving Break, it’s easy to assume everyone spent their time like we did.

Turkey. Naps. Family. Games. Leftovers. Friends. Pies – all the pies. Shopping. Football.

Those are all the normal things we associate with Thanksgiving and, often, we assume everyone has the same experience of the break as we do. However, for others, the breaks are hard. For some, they’re a reminder of deep loss. For others, it’s time spent with people that do not always bring them joy or peace. For some students and staff, it’s a week spent away from their home and their family.

So, as you return to the work of Education this morning, remember to ask and not assume. While some faces may brighten and tell you about all the joy they experienced during the break, other faces might brighten simply because they’re back and you took a moment out of your day to “see” them.

For some, they’ve been waiting for that moment since they left school last week.

Choose to be Great!
