Choose to be Great: Imperfection (Y2:E19)

Happy Monday,

Word on the street is that I forgot to send out an email last week. At least, that was the word I heard from some of you when you didn’t find an email in your inbox on Monday or Tuesday morning.

Here’s what happened: It slipped my mind. I totally blanked and didn’t even realize it until someone mentioned it. While I’m not happy about this goof, there’s a silver lining: It will be okay.

As leaders, we often chase this idea of perfection, set high bars, and expect a lot from ourselves. Falling short can be annoying; but, the truth is, it’s all good.

Here’s the truth: Most mistakes can be fixed. Further, most mistakes are made worse when we dwell on them.

So, if you want to minimize the mistakes that you’re inevitably going to make, acknowledge and move on from them quickly. Give yourself the same grace you extend to so many others.

Real talk: Nobody expects you to be flawless regardless of how awesome you are. If you’re lugging around that perfect image burden, drop it. It’s only holding you and our team back from greater things!

Choose to be Great!

Angelo
